The Hear Now Festival began life back in 1979 as the Midwest Radio Theatre Workshop. More than four decades later, workshops remain central to our mission. Now established as a program of NATF separate from the Hear Now Festival, Hear Learn workshops carry this tradition of education for the audio fiction community into the 21st century.
Introducing the 2024 Hear Learn: Audio Script-writing Intensive with Nick Krohn, a transformative journey to take your scriptwriting skills to the next level.
Starting January 27th, five immersive sessions over five months will take you on a deep dive into the art of crafting compelling audio narratives. Topics will range from script structure and formatting to character construction and serialization.
Learn how to tailor your writing specifically for the audio medium. Nick’s method isn’t just a roadmap; it’s a versatile toolset for creating the canvas that sound designers, actors, and foley artists use as their unique playground. Your participation will result in a polished thirty-minute audio script authored by YOU, ready for production.
While it’s not a competition, every script created will be reviewed by the NATF Audio Production Committee. Your script could be chosen for a live production at the highly anticipated 2024 Hear Now Audio Theater Festival in Kansas City this June!
