New Radio Script Celebrates Community Radio

The National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB), in conjunction with the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Inc. (NATF), is pleased to announce the winners of it's recent short script/skit competition.

The first place script, "It's A Wonderful Radio Station" by Bill Chessman of Concord, CA, will be produced and performed live by the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Inc. just prior to the NFCB's 30th Anniversary Conference Golden Award Reel Presentation on Friday, April 15, 2005, in Baltimore, Maryland.

In addition to having his work performed at the NFCB, Chessman, will also receive a $300 cash prize and discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop.

Second place winner, Rick Brown of Kearney, NE, for "The Further Adventures of the Segue Squad", will receive a $100 cash prize and discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop events.

Third place winner, Deborah Begel of La Madera, NM, for "Volunteer: WOOL-FM" will receive discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop events.

Community Radio Script Finalists

The National Federation of Community Broadcasters (NFCB), in conjunction with the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Inc. (NATF), is pleased to announce that the following three finalists have been selected to submit short scripts for possible live performance at the NFCB's 30th Anniversary Conference Golden Reels Presentation on Friday, April 15, 2005, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Deborah Begel, of LaMadera, New Mexico; Rick Brown of Kearney, Nebraska; and Bill Chessman of Concord, California are the three writers selected to present their proposed scripts to the NFCB/NATF script committee by January 20, 2005. The judging committee will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to these plays by the middle of February 2005.

The first place winner will receive $300 and discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop events as well as having their play performed at the NFCB conference in April 2005.

The second place winner will receive $100 and discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop events.

The third winner will receive discounted registrations to both the NFCB and NATF 2005 conference/workshop events.

Thanks to the many other writers who submitted ideas to this competition and congratulations to our winners.

This script competition is separate from the annual script contest run by the NATF which had a deadline of November 15, 2004, and is for plays that are approximately 30 minutes in length. Visit www.natf.org for details on that competition.
