The Norman Corwin Award for Excellence in Audio Theatre
There is very little restriction regarding who is eligible for a Norman Corwin Award: any individual or group of any nationality that has made a significant contribution to the creation of great audio theatre in the United States may be nominated. Submissions will be reviewed and judging conducted by the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Inc., the creators of the prize. The Awards are usually on May 3rd, which was Norman Corwin's birthday. Rules and Criteria Anyone may nominate up to three individuals or groups in any given year. Nominees may be of any nationality, but they must have made a significant contribution to audio theatre in the United States, and their work will be judged accordingly. (The judges ask that nominations be accompanied by a link or links to work that was made for distribution in the US.) Contributions may be defined as producing, directing, scriptwriting, sound design, and engineering, as well as acting, singing and/or vocal sound effects, with the highest degree of professional quality. Contributions may include promotion of the medium of audio theatre in any medium including radio, recorded books and the internet, and may likewise extend to education connected with the creation and performance of live and recorded audio theatre. Nominations for the Norman Corwin Award can be made annually via electronic mail between the prior November 1st until April 1st of the award year. Nominations must be made on the Norman Corwin Award nomination form. Judging of the Norman Corwin Award is entirely conducted by the Corwin Award Committee of the Board of Directors of the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Inc. The winner will be announced on the National Audio Theatre Festivals website and through print and internet publicity outlets annually on Corwin's birthday, May 3rd. When possible, award winners will be honored at the closing ceremony of NATF's current national event, the HEAR Now Festival.
